This summer, four students from Austria – Iris, Linda, Sebastian, and David – joined us at our summer school in Silicon Valley, thanks to the University of Applied Sciences Vienna. It was an amazing opportunity for them to explore the world of technology firsthand! During the summer school in Silicon Valley, they met innovators and entrepreneurs and learned about startups, networking, and the latest technological trends through workshops. ABC Silicon Valley 

Silicon Valley, located in Northern California, is a global center for technology and innovation, home to large tech companies and thousands of startups. The region is known for being home to numerous Fortune 1000 companies, making it a key location for high-tech development.

 

The Silicon Valley summer school introduces participants to top innovators’ mindsets, helping them recognize contemporary consumer needs. During the summer school in Silicon Valley, participants visit leading tech companies, gain insight into their practices, and learn how to take advantage of current trends. In addition, they develop an elevator pitch for their startup and present it to an expert jury!

 

We had two weeks to fully immerse ourselves in the innovative spirit of Silicon Valley and experience the local mindset. The summer school in Silicon Valley focused not only on our professional growth but also on personal development. It helped us recognize our own strengths, boosted our self-confidence, and provided a platform to network and connect with like-minded individuals, forming lasting friendships along the way. – said Iris, Linda, Sebastian, and David

Lectures

The summer school includes innovation strategies and methods, project management, and startup experiences, with a focus on understanding user needs. Also, participants explore the history and culture of Silicon Valley, including successes and failures. Along with topics like AI, blockchain, and automation, the importance of investors and venture capital is also emphasized. The main instructor, Laszlo Gyorffy, is the founder of LBG Innovate, with over 27 years of innovation experience. Through his expertise, participants gain insight into advanced innovation methods and business strategies.

 

Classes with Professor Laszlo Gyorffy were both exciting and challenging. It included interactive lectures, theoretical insights, and various projects that provided us with useful tools. We explored innovative idea generation, refinement processes, and effective presentation techniques. Working in teams, we developed products and participated in a pitching competition judged by experienced Silicon Valley professionals. We’re proud to say that some of us were part of the winning team! Top tech companies and guest speakers

This year, the participants had the opportunity to visit various innovative companies such as Plug and Play Tech Center, Google Visitor Experience, NetApp, Apple Park Visitor Center, and Intel Museum. During the visit, they were introduced to the fascinating ecosystems and technologies that are shaping the future. They also had the opportunity to listen to inspiring speeches by experts such as Robert MacPhee, Lisa Friedman, Herman Gyr, and Steve Decker, who shared their insights on innovation and business strategies.

 

We had the opportunity to visit renowned tech giants like Google, NetApp, Apple, Oracle, and Intel, as well as the venture capital firm and accelerator Plug and Play. Throughout the program, guest speakers with extensive Silicon Valley experience shared their insights with us. These activities provided valuable knowledge about the latest developments and practices in the tech industry. One of the highlights was our visit to Stanford University, which was truly inspiring. – said Iris, Linda, Sebastian, and David

Travel around the USA

Participants have the opportunity to travel across America before or after our summer school in Silicon Valley, exploring various destinations and natural beauty. These free periods are a great chance to visit iconic sights, network with local companies, and immerse themselves in American culture. After all, when in America, why not seize the opportunity to discover more?

 

We had a week of free time before and after summer school in Silicon Valley, which allowed us to explore California and network with local companies. During this time, we visited ProTerra, a battery producer, and the Austrian Chamber of Commerce, where we gained valuable insights. Additionally, we explored Yosemite National Park and visited Lake Tahoe after touring Siemens Mobility. Before classes began, we enjoyed the San Francisco Pride Parade and spent time in Santa Cruz. After the program, Iris, Sebastian, and Linda traveled to Los Angeles while David explored Oregon. We saw the Hollywood sign, Beverly Hills, and Santa Monica Pier, wrapping up our adventure with souvenirs from our four-week journey. – said Iris, Linda, Sebastian, and David

Our summer school in Silicon Valley provided Iris, Linda, Sebastian, and David with valuable opportunities for learning and networking.
