“At ABC, I learned how to connect my technical skills with creativity and present ideas more confidently.”

Can you introduce yourself? Tell us your name, where you’re from, and a bit about your background.
My name is Domagoj, and I’m from Croatia. I worked at Rimac for around four years before deciding to start something of my own. Now I freelance and collaborate with an agency in Zagreb. Our main project at the moment is in the medical industry, developing a system for managing patients and their live video feeds.
You’ve worked on projects from IoT to healthcare and analytics. How have those experiences shaped your approach to problem-solving and innovation at ABC Silicon Valley?
My background really helped when we were developing ideas here at ABC. I could easily visualize how certain projects could actually be built, how complex they might be, and what technical challenges could come up. That helped me think about different ways to approach or simplify problems, and that’s definitely been my advantage here.
Who was your favorite guest speaker?
My favorite was Buddy and his presentation about how to actually present. He pointed out a few things I had never thought about before, but once he explained them and demonstrated his approach, everything made perfect sense. Watching him present helped me understand what he was talking about, and I feel like now I can present more confidently and convincingly.
You organized the SheepAI hackathon, the first AI innovation event of its kind in Croatia. What inspired you to take on this project? Have you gained any insights here at ABC Silicon Valley that you plan to apply when organizing the third edition?
Last year, Viktor and I went on a business trip to New York, and a friend invited us to a hackathon at MIT. We ended up winning second place and had a lot of fun. When we came back, we thought, why not organize something like this at home? So we did. Our first hackathon was in December 2024, and the second one took place in May 2025. It’s been going great, and we’re already planning the next one. We’ve met some great people here at ABC who could potentially connect us with sponsors and help us structure future editions even better.
What’s your favorite thing about ABC?
My favorite thing was definitely the people. There were so many different personalities from all over the world, and it was really interesting to meet them, talk, and hear about their work and backgrounds.
