“Attending ABC was a great way to gain useful knowledge, meet interesting people, and experience something I had been curious about for a long time.”

Can you introduce yourself? Tell us your name, where you’re from, and a bit about your background.

My name is Sara, and I’m from Croatia. I work as a freelancer in marketing, photography, and videography, and I’m also a digital marketing student. I run my own marketing agency, so I’m always looking for opportunities to learn more and connect with like-minded people.

What sparked your interest in attending ABC Silicon Valley, and how do you see this experience shaping your future career?

I first saw ABC on social media a few years ago, and then a friend attended and told me it was an amazing experience. I wanted to see it for myself. Since I work in marketing and run my own agency, I felt that the knowledge and skills from ABC would be really valuable. Plus, the networking opportunities and meeting people from all over the world are incredibly useful for my professional growth.

You’ve participated in several Erasmus+ projects — how do those experiences compare to this summer school?

In some ways, ABC is similar to Erasmus+ projects, but in others, it’s completely different. The workshops here are more professional and goal-oriented, while Erasmus+ projects are broader and more creative. Both experiences involve working in international teams and developing soft skills, so I’d say they’re both fun and valuable in their own ways.

Who was your favorite guest speaker?

My favorite speakers were Robert, who talked about leading a values-based life, and Sri, who shared insights about marketing, which is right in my field. It was really inspiring to hear from both of them.

You participated in the first edition of the ABC Business Plan Competition — and won! What motivated you to take part, and how challenging was it?

I saw the competition on social media and decided to apply, especially since I had already been considering joining. I wouldn’t say it was too hard because we were working in a team. We had just returned from the Maldives, so we already had some fresh ideas. Nikola, my teammate, works in aviation, and we both love to travel, so it was exciting to create a business plan for an airport scanner. It took us about one to two days, and it was a really fun experience. I would definitely recommend it to anyone thinking of applying.
