“My ABC Toronto business learning experience helped me turn theory into practice and improve how I present ideas.”

Can you introduce yourself? Tell us your name, where you’re from, and a bit about your background.

My name is Irena, and I’m from Croatia. I studied economics and currently work at an accounting company, where I’m involved in sales and market analysis.

Why did you decide to join ABC Toronto?

I wanted to expand my knowledge in economics and business, but also to see how people from different countries and continents approach these topics. Another important reason was meeting new people and building connections.

What did you learn during the program?

One of the biggest things I learned was how to transform theory into practice. That was very valuable for me. I also improved my presentation skills and became more confident in communicating ideas.

What stood out to you the most?

Every day felt like a great experience, and each guest speaker brought something new and different. I really enjoyed listening to all of them. One speaker I will especially remember talked about space and life in space, which was something completely different from what we usually hear.

What was your experience like outside the classroom?

I really enjoyed both the study part and the free activities. In our free time, we explored the city, visited the CN Tower, went to Niagara Falls, and even watched a baseball game. It felt like we truly experienced Canadian life during those two weeks.
