Can you introduce yourself? Tell us your name, where you’re from, and a bit about your background.
I’m Hayeon from South Korea. I’ve always been interested in business, but my main career goal is to become a doctor. In the future, I hope to combine medicine and entrepreneurship, especially in health-related fields where innovation is really needed.
What motivated you to join ABC Toronto?
I’ve always wanted to come to Toronto and learn more about business, so when I searched for those two things, I found ABC Toronto. After reading about the program and its structure, I felt it was a great opportunity and decided to join.
What did you learn during the program?
Before coming here, I didn’t have much business knowledge. Through the lectures, I learned the basics — how companies define their values, how funding works, and who the key stakeholders in a business are.
One of the biggest takeaways was understanding that business is not only theoretical. It’s something you learn by doing and by listening to real stories from people who have experienced it. The guest speakers shared practical insights about their careers, challenges, and motivations, which made everything feel more real.
What skills did you develop?
A lot of what I learned was connected to presentation skills. Preparing and delivering our project helped me understand how to structure ideas clearly and communicate them effectively. I also learned from my peers, especially in terms of design tools and how to create better presentations or even think about app development.
How did the ABC Toronto entrepreneurship program impact you personally?
ABC Toronto impacted me a lot because I met people from very different backgrounds and cultures — something I don’t usually experience in my home country. It helped me understand how important networking is and gave me new perspectives on both business and personal growth.
The program also provided a good balance between lectures and exploring the city, which made the overall experience even more meaningful.
