ABC presents “Alumni Talks”, offering a real insight into our programs by the participants themselves.
We are very glad to announce a new addition to our blog, which focuses on the former participants of the ABC programs. This is the chance for our alumni to share a little bit of their background and their experience with the ABC BootCamps.
“Studying abroad is about experiencing a foreign country — and the most beautiful, important part of a country’s culture is its people.”
Alexander Kolker
This week’s featured alumni is Alan Reynoso Oropeza from Mexico, who participated in Toronto Business Academy this summer.
Alan is currently studying Business at the Tecnológico de Monterrey in Mexico. He has worked as a director of innovation and development of a social startup UrbanoMX, and is now developing 3 projects that might lead to businesses.
A glance in Alan’s story
Alan: “As a young entrepreneur, it’s been hard for me to decide what to actually study based on the fact that my ultimate goal is to generate my own company or companies. That’s why I’ve already gone through 6 different careers in the last year and a half, ranging from engineering to business. At the end of the day I’ve accquired so much knowledge and various perspectives that I don’t regret it. Everything adds up to your formation if you are willing to take in the knowledge.“
In the following questions Alan gives his insight on studying abroad and his ABC experience as well as his goals for the future.
What is your opinion on studies abroad?
They are wonderful experiences, due to the fact that you have to leave your comfort zone. You get to know new and amazing people and form bonds that could last a lifetime.
How would you describe your ideal education system?
It would be a more attentive and personalized system. We all learn differently and if we could channel knowledge and adapt it towards our specific needs, it would be easier for us to learn in a sustainable and efficient way.
What are your ambitions for the future?
I’m an entrepreneur. I am currently developing three projects and I hope I can start earning from them before I graduate University. I wish to keep raising projects because it’s my passion.
Any advice you would give to your younger self?
Be patient, it might not seem like it, but you’ll eventually find your strengths and passions and you will enjoy them.
